The Weycroft Bridge Local Wildlife

  • Weycroft Bridge Therapies  offers a unique and tranquil environment beside the river Axe. The river Axe is classed as a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) due to the diverse nature of the wildlife in and on the river.

  • Imagine looking out of the window and observing the animals and birds that call the river their home. We are lucky enough to have such a home. There are so many incentives for getting up early in the morning such as spotting the majestic heron sitting on his little island downstream waiting for breakfast to appear, also not forgetting the elusive kingfisher with his flash of blue as he skims just above the water line. Occasionally we are lucky enough to see a trout or salmon leap clean out of the water after a fly.
  • All of this is possible to observe in our healing sanctuary that we call home. A brand new nature trail has been made available to the general public just over the bridge. It is suitable for walkers, ramblers, bird watchers and cyclists. If you are into  star gazing then look no further than across our fields and up into the clear night sky. (Weather permitting of course!) You will find a canvas of stars painted against a backdrop of the dark night sky due to the low levels of light pollution in our area, an astronomers dream.
